Best of Intentions I

This set of 3 geometric works is inspired by the mid-century masters with a gentle nod to Spanish artist Joan Miró. Beginning with a black outline, artist Ilana Greenberg fills in the abstract pattern with layers of paint in a soothing palette of grey, blue and yellow. Loose lines and heavy brushstrokes add to the whimsical nature of the works. These sophisticated images are printed on archival cotton rag paper, with a hand-torn deckle edge, and set in silver metallic leaf frames for a relaxed, refined look.

• Ilana Greenberg is a painter, illustrator and graphic designer working in her beloved hometown of Brooklyn. Her abstract paintings are inspired by the mid-century modern masters, as well as the fast-paced and ever-changing city she calls home. Ilana finds painting to be the best form of meditation and she always strives for a little imperfection in her work. She owns and manages the Ilana Greenberg Gallery in Brooklyn, where she showcases her paintings and illustrations as well as the work of local artists. When she isn’t painting, you can find Ilana hanging out with her husband and two children or taking a long walk down the beach.
