At Pike's Place Market in Seattle, nature-lovers and romantics alike walk along the old brick streets, carrying a daily kaleidoscope of fresh-cut flowers in their arms. Seattle-based artist Van Hoang, who has a studio near the market, created these paintings to capture those blooms from a modern perspective. Give yourself the treat of fresh flowers any day of the year and bring some romantic energy into your living space. Resplendent in bold hues and only hinting at form, this fresh look isn't your grandmother's floral still life.

• Van Hoang was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States in 1990. He began his studies in Industrial Design but ultimately realized that painting was his true passion. Van completed his undergraduate education in 2013 earning a BFA in painting and drawing from the University of Washington. After graduating, he was hired by a large Seattle art studio to create paintings and sculpture for an international clientele of collectors, architects and designers. His work can be found in the collections of Terry Allen, 21c Museum Hotels, Ron and Anna Rosella, as well as several galleries. Van's rapid commercial success prompted him in 2015 to focus on his personal work and move into a studio loft in the historic Pioneer Square neighborhood of Seattle.
